Birth Well Yoga classes combine discussion with gentle yoga stretches, creative movement, breathwork, massage and guided imagery to cultivate a deeper awareness, trust, and confidence in our body’s innate resources for pregnancy, labor and birth.
“keeping active during labour and adopting natural, upright or crouching birth positions is the safest, most enjoyable, most economical and sensible way for the majority of women to give birth.” –Janet Balaskas
Prenatal yoga is considered an ideal way to promote physical fitness and health; helping women prepare for delivery and ease the birthing process. Classes usually combine discussion with gentle postures, guided imagery, meditation and breathing techniques to support mom in cultivating  a deeper awareness, trust, and confidence in her body’s innate resources for pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga teachers each have their own philosophy and teaching style, so read class descriptions and visit the studio to make sure it's a good fit.Make sure that yoga teachers are certified to teach prenatal yoga, and speak privately with instructors before class on the first visit to discuss any health concerns.
